Ipamorelin Research Profile

Research Use

Ipamorelin is a highly selective ghrelin/growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHSR) agonist. It is regarded as the cleanest GHRP available, inducing strong GH pulses without the cortisol, prolactin, or intense hunger side effects of older GHRPs.

Mechanism of Action & Biochemical Context

Ipamorelin is a highly selective ghrelin/growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHSR) agonist. It is regarded as the cleanest GHRP available, inducing strong GH pulses without the cortisol, prolactin, or intense hunger side effects of older GHRPs.

Storage, Reconstitution & Stability Guidelines

Prior to reconstitution, lyophilized Ipamorelin powder should be stored away from light between 2°C and 8°C for short-term access, or -20°C for long-term preservation. Once reconstituted with Bacteriostatic Water (0.9% benzyl alcohol preservative), maintain strict refrigeration between 2°C and 8°C. Do not freeze liquid solution.

Using a standard 2mg vial with 2mL BAC water (1,000mcg/mL): 200mcg = 0.2mL = 20 units on a U-100 syringe.

Older GHRPs bind to multiple receptor types, causing elevation of cortisol (the stress hormone that promotes fat storage and muscle catabolism) and prolactin (which can cause gynecomastia and water retention in men). Ipamorelin is highly selective - it binds primarily to the GHSR and triggers a strong GH pulse with minimal or no effect on cortisol and prolactin. This makes it safe for long-term use.

Studies show that approximately 200-300mcg represents the saturation point for Ipamorelin's GH-releasing effect. At 300mcg, the pituitary's GHSR receptors are essentially maximally occupied. Injecting 500mcg or 1000mcg produces a negligibly stronger GH pulse compared to 300mcg - you are simply wasting expensive peptide.

Yes. Ipamorelin is used in research involving both male and female subjects. Its clean selectivity profile (no prolactin elevation, minimal cortisol) makes it safer for women than GHRP-2 or GHRP-6. Research doses for women are typically the same as for men (200-300mcg per injection).

Inject approximately 30-60 minutes before going to sleep. This is because the GH pulse triggered by Ipamorelin peaks around 40-60 minutes post-injection. Timing it this way perfectly aligns the peak GH pulse with the onset of slow-wave sleep, during which the body's own GH production is at its natural highest point, creating a compounding effect.

Minimally. While it binds to the ghrelin receptor (ghrelin is the "hunger hormone"), Ipamorelin is engineered to preferentially activate the GH-releasing pathway over the hunger pathway. Some subjects report a slight increase in appetite 30-45 minutes post-injection, but it is dramatically less intense than the ravenous, uncontrollable hunger induced by GHRP-6.

Yes - almost universally. Ipamorelin handles the "release" side (suppressing somatostatin and directly signaling the pituitary to dump stored GH), while CJC-1295 handles the "production" side (signaling the pituitary to synthesize and store more GH). Together, the GH pulse is exponentially (not just additively) stronger than either compound alone. They can be pulled into the same syringe for a single injection.
